On January 9, FAW-Volkswagen officially released the exterior official images of the Sagitar S. The new car is a new member of the Sagitar family, positioned below the on-sale Sagitar L. After launch, it will further lower the price threshold of the model line and is expected to debut at the end of this month (January 2026).

In terms of appearance, judging from the released official images, the exterior design of the Sagitar S is consistent with that of the Sagitar L. The through-type light cluster strengthens the front end's "horizontal visual extension," and the headlight outline is similar to that of the overseas version of the Sagitar. The side of the new car shows simple and stretched body surface changes. The fastback-style C-pillar and the upturned "ducktail" outline dynamic and smooth rear lines. The dynamic interactive taillights show a sense of technology when lit, and the decorative trim at the bottom of the rear bumper makes the rear more vivid. The new car's length, width, and height are 4702/1815/1484 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2688 mm, slightly smaller in size than the on-sale Sagitar L.

In terms of power, the new car will offer two powertrains: a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine + 6AT transmission, and a 1.5T EVO2 engine + 7-speed DSG transmission. The maximum power of the 1.5L and 1.5T engines is 81 kW and 118 kW respectively.

Dada Review: FAW-Volkswagen's launch of the Sagitar S is clearly aimed at capturing the lower-end market. The pricing of the 1.5L + 6AT model is expected to enter below 100,000 yuan, and after terminal discounts it may enter the 70,000 yuan range, gaining sales with a more pragmatic price. The exterior of the Sagitar S adopts the family's latest design language, and visually it does not feel inferior. The engine and transmission of the new car's 1.5L + 6AT version are both very stable, and fuel economy is also good. If you value power output and acceleration response, then you should choose the 1.5T + 7 DSG version. This powertrain is where Volkswagen's essence lies.
